Boston Brown Bread

 

Cook together in saucepan until raisins are soft and then cool:

  • 1 1/2 cups raisins
  • 1 1/2 cups water

 

Add to:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tbsp butter or marg.
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 3/4 cups flour
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup chopped nuts

 

Grease 3 empty soup cans well and fill 2/3 full with batter. May use other size cans, but only fill 2/3 full.

Bake 1 hour at 350 degrees, let cool and drop out of cans.

Slice, butter and enjoy!
